the thing that people don’t acknowledge about caduceus is that he’s a 19 year old accidentally goth homeschooler (in the way that only people who don’t know what goth is can be like the truest fucking goth) whose main hobbies are being the most gossipy, judgiest bitch in the mighty nein, talking to plants as if he can understand them in a universe where he canonically CAN communicate with them, he just doesn’t fucking get them, and making tea. he dyed his hair pink. he is terrified of water. he carried a bone flute hundreds of miles for the specific purpose of terrifying his sister out of her mind before he even knew she was alive for sure. his response to a one night stand with a hot but evil girl was “sleep well with your bad decisions”. he’s a middle child. he keeps getting stuck in mud puddles. he spends 90 episodes teaching fjord about how to accept death and then while fjord was extolling how great caduceus was at acceptance, caduceus was pleading with god to resurrect a dude he never even met. “wise old guy who counsels the group” couldn’t be further from the truth. that’s what he WANTS you to think. plus this is objectively funnier

On the one hand, it tickles me so much that the rest of the hells might not notice anything different because their relationship has always been this, now there’s just some added kissing.
The people pointing out that Laudna had referred to hers and Imogen’s relationship as sister are leaving out the very long pause before she said that.
I think somewhere in between Laudna coming back to life the second time and getting separated from Imogen after the solstice, she started to think about what Imogen was to her with more consideration.
Couple this with the fact that Delilah had been poisoning Launda’s thoughts and making her think she was unworthy of love and companionship for thirty-years. A prime example of this is as soon as Launda started to trust the rest of Bell’s Hells, Delilah immediately started to tell her that all her friends were going to betray her and that she wasn’t in a safe place. So who knows what she was telling Launda about Imogen for the two years they were traveling alone together.
Laudna died at twenty, and the only crush we know about from her threw dirt in her face. She never got the chance to build a vocabulary around romance and affection that wasn’t inherently sexual. You can kind of see that in the way that she speaks about Imogen and the way she talks to Imogen.
Laudna doesn’t really have the words to describe her feelings because it’s been so long. And when you already believe yourself to be unlovable or incapable of love, there’s no incentive to try and figure it out.
“Imogen is safe, Imogen is a constant, Imogen is the anchor. I don’t want to say or do anything to make Imogen go away. Someone as wonderful and capable and amazing as Imogen would never have those feelings for me.” I think this was Launda’s thought process for a while.
Then Imogen kissed her. A clear cut show of affection, and an opening to explore these new feelings without the fear of losing the one person that doesn’t treat her like a monster, or an object to ogle, or a pawn in their own little game.
That’s why Imogen didn’t trigger the fight or flight response or the discomfort that we’ve seen before. That’s why Laudna initiated the second kiss. That’s why she said yes to the first.
For those confused: the player in dark blue was faking out shooting a basket. The defending player in green fell for the fake out and jumped past the player in blue attempting to block the shot. The player in green then landed out of bounds. The player in dark blue then passed him the ball. Out of reflex the player in green caught it. Since that player was out of bounds and now has the ball the ball is handed back over to the dark blue team.
